Amazing place to get bagels!! Everyone was so nice and helpful with the menu, which is extremely customizable and delicious with a bunch of cream cheese and meat options. Our group tried 4 different sandwiches and enjoyed them all. With 3 drinks our tab came to about $60 which is a great price for 4 people to eat out. It's a casual space but a bit tiny for all of the traffic they get. We didn't have to wait to order but there was only one open space for our group to sit, so be aware take out may be your best option.
Let me be honest and say I eat bagel with a thin layer of vegetable cream cheese. Just that and black coffee would make my day. So the style here with different combinations of stuff added to the bagel is not something I've tried. But the bagel itself is awesome. I tried a spinach bagel with fresh veggie cream, on which they added onion and tomato and some more vegetables. It was extremely heavy, and after a few bites I actually removed all the added items and just ate the spinach bagel part. My 5 year old had a sour dough bagel with peanut butter, that was good. We were the first customers, when we were leaving there was a huge crowd of people on line. So I can see how popular this place is. Cappuccino with skimmed milk was good. I will definitely try this place again, next time with a simpler smeared bagel. Customer service is excellent. They also give all orders in a to go manner, which can be convenient.
This is about as close to authentic New York bagels as you can get! They are absolutely delicious. The service is on spot. The ambience is family friendly. The reason for four stars..... They bring your food out in paper bags to your table.. when asked the said it is Covid protocol. Umm it's 2024 and Covid is over... pls catch up to the current situation and times. Also there is a law recently passed in TN- No dogs allowed inside a restaurant/food service/grocery store. People have allergies. People have anxiety issues. House Bill 1635
Amazing bagels!!!!! Can't say enough good things about this place. We ordered online & it was ready right when we got there. There were a decent amount of seats inside, but it was very crowded, so we ended up taking it to-go. They had lots of bagel options & even more cream cheese options that were unique and can't find anywhere else. They also had matzo ball soup and other various deli/market items like kale salad, chicken salad and bakery items. We tried the chocolate ganache bar & it was sooo good. If I lived in Nashville - I think I would go back every weekend.
Just plain delicious. Your heart skips a beat as you enter and walk along the glass counter of beautiful kinds of spreads. How to pick ??? Well I love the blueberry pie or peach pie (seasonal) cheesecake spreads on a lightly toasted bagel. Note* you can pick how much you cream cheese do pay attention when ordering! Service is efficient , and several people walked by our table to ask if we needed anything- very friendly. And very clean I noticed, too. It's tight in the building so you can certainly get your good to go. Great place to meet friends !
the flavor profiles are superb. Visit just to drool at the counter. I ordered the blueberry pie on cinnamon crunch and everything spinach with dill pickle on the side (we will see if it lasts until tomorrow). Fantastic bagels. Cute location. Bright, clean. Parking was a bit of a challenge. The wait was about 20 minutes. Worth it! Highly recommend, would definitely return.
Cute but consistently crowded bagel shop with undoubtedly amazing bagels. Perfect UN toasted, the way they should be. Their cream cheeses are so innovative and visually appealing. Ultimately I got a classic combo of everything with lox cream cheese (that also has onions and capers mixed in). I got a "light" spreading of cream cheese which is a lot by anyone else's standards. Not sure I could tolerate the calorie bomb of a regular spread of cream cheese. The bagel had a great texture and a perfect chew. Will definitely be back. Hopefully on a less crowded day.
The Proper Bagel is a great spot for breakfast serving a variety of bagel sandwiches, with a plethora of different cream cheeses and deli salads. They are located near a residential area on the edge of the Belmont College campus. Parking may be a challenge. My mom and I got there around 8:45 on a Monday morning and there wasn't a line. Many of the reviews I read warned of a long line and wait. We were able to avoid that luckily! The inside is very clean with a black and white interior. The ordering system is very straight forward and we only waited about 10-15 for our bagels. We both ordered the Nova Lox on a spinach everything bagel. The nova lox bagel consists of nova lox flown in from Brooklyn, NY, home made scallion-dill cream cheese, capers, sliced tomato, and red onion. We opted to have our bagels toasted as well. The bagels are large and quite filling. There are ample amounts of both salmon and cream cheese. The tomato and red onion add a freshness to compliment the saltiness of the nova lox. We both really enjoyed our bagels, they were tasty! Proper Bagel is a great establishment. The interior is unique and very clean. The service is prompt and friendly. They have so many different options to choose from with a variety of really different cream cheese flavors. They are a little more expensive, but you are paying for quality. My mom, being from New York, thought they were great, authentic bagels. I would recommend stopping here to get real New York style bagels!
Still the best bagels and cream cheeses in Nashville. Plus, the smoked fish is super fresh and the varieties include not only nova lox, but also pastrami nova, salty belly lox, and whitefish. Cream Cheese flavors include jalapeño bacon, lox with capers, dill pickle, birthday cake, and many others. The cheeses are always fresh and look beautiful in the case. They serve 6 different sandwiches with eggs and various other proteins, vegetables, and sauces. They are super filling and range in price from $8.50 to $12.00. They serve Crema Coffee (Bonus!) and also offer many fresh cookies and pastries. The only downside at Proper Bagel is the wait. Assume they are ALWAYS busy, plus they fill online and delivery orders. So, your wait time for a bagel with cream cheese, or anything else, is often 20-30 minutes. I still say it's worth the wait. Proper Bagel is that good.
